Hi! I'm Brittany, the founder and creator of The HomeSupport Company and Confident Homeownership for Women. I bought my first house in 2017 as a single parent, living paycheck to paycheck, with no idea what it would actually take to own a home! I learned very quickly that I wasn't prepared for everything that came with owning a house. I had breakdowns, regrets, anxiety, excitement, hope, and every emotion in between running through me all at once. It was overwhelming, which is an understatement, but I've managed to make it work! Since I bought my house, I got married, added 4 dogs to the family, got divorced, changed jobs multiple times, watched my daughter graduate high school and start college, and many other things in 8 years. The memories, both good and bad, that I've made and have of this house are a testament to the struggles and successes I've faced and I wouldn't trade them for anything! I've learned so much and grown exponentially along the way. I have so much more confidence in my abilities to handle the hard things in life and I want to share that with others, in hopes that it can make a difference for anyone else going through the struggle.

The HomeSupport Company and Confident Homeownership for Women is here to help women in, but really anyone else that owns their own home, avoid the common pitfalls no one warns you about. You go through this crazy process of buying a house by securing financing, going to showings, making offers and counteroffers, getting an acceptance, getting a home inspection, then finalizing everything through the closing process. You go to your closing, sign the ridiculous amount of papers and are handed your keys. Throughout that process, that typically takes MONTHS, not one person actually tells what to expect or what is involved in owning a home. We all know the basics, for the most part, but what about the things we've never had to deal with as a renter? Granted, there is a wealth of information on the internet now, but it can be overwhelming, not to mention determining if it's good information. And it can take time, sometimes time you don't have, when something is going wrong at that moment.

This is why I created our company and first book. I know all of this information can be found by anyone who might need it, and this is never going to cover EVERYTHING, because every house is different in many ways. But, my hope is that this helps ease anxiety and gives you the information that makes you aware of each area of your home that will inevitably require your attention, so you can monitor and be prepared when that time comes. I know I would rather know ahead of time than be surprised by something I didn't even know existed!
